Back to School Battle Rules


Here are the official rules for the Coast 93.1 Back to School Battle Contest…

Starting on Monday, August 18th, 2014 through Friday, August 29th, 2014… each weekday morning at 6:40am Blake and Eva will play the “Back to School Battle”. And encourage listeners to be the first caller, 792-6278, to be a contestant. August 18th the first two callers will be chosen to participate.

Two contestants, parents with school age kids (age 5-18), will compete to answer 5 questions taken from a school text book, the same questions for each contestant; they will not be able to hear one another’s answers.

The contestant with the most correct answers receives a $100 Visa Gift Card courtesy of Republic Records, and will be invited to play again the next day, against a new challenger. If there is a tie after 5 questions, there will be tie breaker questions until one contestant has the most correct answers. If the winning contestant is unable to continue, we will start with two new callers the following day. The first and second caller will be chosen to participate.

The prize will be awarded within 30 days. Coast 93.1’s sole responsibility is to award the prize; therefore, Coast 93.1 will have no further responsibility in connection with the prize if the prize winner, for any reason, does not come to pick up his or her gift card(s).

Coast 93.1 contests are open to all eligible Maine and New Hampshire residents 18 or over and have not have not won anything on Coast 93.1 in the past 30 days or any prize valued at $600 or more in the past 6 months. Only one winner per household is permitted within 30 days after a household has a winner. Any prize awarded to an ineligible listener will be deemed null and void, and an alternate eligible winner may be named.  Employees of Coast 93.1 at the Portland Radio Group, and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc., their advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all media of mass communication within a one hundred mile radius of the Coast 93.1 main studio are not eligible to win any contest. Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is current legal guardian.
