Frannie Peabody Center, Maine’s largest provider of HIV/AIDS services, will hold its annual Southern Maine AIDS Walk/5K Run VIRTUALLY on August 15th, 2020. The Walk usually takes place on the first weekend in May, but this year had be cancelled due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Every May, the Southern Maine AIDS Walk/5K Run brings people together in support of one another. Many people choose to walk in memory of a loved one they have lost to AIDS, in honor of a friend still fighting, or as a way to educate their children about an important issue that affects our community. The walk raises critical funds for people in Maine affected by HIV/AIDS.
For this year’s now virtual event, they are asking that registered participants walk/run anywhere they’d like between August 15th at 9am and August 16th at 3pm. Be sure to share photos and videos on social media using the hashtag #southernMaineAIDSwalk! Also, send them a screenshot of your walk/run on a walking/running app by 3pm on August 16th to be in the running for a bunch of cool prizes!
