The 13th “Kevin on the Roof” fundraiser is currently in progress at Patriot Subaru in Saco.
Kevin Fitzpatrick is camping out on the roof to raise money for STRIVE, which supports teens and young adults with developmental disabilities.
“STRIVE is this terrific nonprofit organization that helps teens, tweens, young adults and beyond, all those with intellectual and developmental disabilities meet their potential, which is what we believe they all have,” said Fitzpatrick. “And when they come to STRIVE and find the wonderful programs that we have to offer, they realize it too.”
Fitzpatrick says he’s raised about $45,000 with a goal to reach $85,000 before he comes down off the roof of Patriot Subaru.
He’s been on the roof since last Wednesday. Donations can be made by text, online, or in person at Patriot Subaru.
Fitzpatrick says STRIVE provides beneficial support.
“So many things in life don’t come easy for any of us and for some, they come even harder,” Fitzpatrick said. “So, STRIVE programs step in, level a playing field so we can all meet our potential and be productive, and that’s just what we all want and need and seek.”
Fitzpatrick is the program director for STRIVE U, which is a residential program where people gain work experience in areas not typically open to people with developmental disabilities.
STRIVE also provides extensive job preparation and training to complement the work experience.
