Windham Police say they’ve arrested a 16 year-old male for sending threatening e-mails to RSU 14 administrators that resulted in closing the schools for more than two days.
CBS13 reports the teenage Windham resident was charged with 8 counts of class C terrorizing, one for each of the schools. He is not a student in RSU 14.
Around 3,300 students from Windham and Raymond were sent home Monday morning after police decided there was enough evidence for a credible threat. One of the e-mails referenced the use of a weapon, according to CBS13. Classes were also canceled Tuesday and Wednesday.
The suspect’s name has not been released. He is now being held at Longcreek Youth Development Center in South Portland and will appear in juvenile court Friday, according to WMTW.
Classes resume Thursday and Police will have a presence at all eight schools for the remainder of the week.
