I’ve been getting bikini area and eyebrow waxing done since my early 20s. I’ve had some good waxes, and I’ve had some horrible waxes that have resulted in terrible bumps, irritation, and once, even a serious burn (yep! bikini area)

It’s not hard to get wax-shy, Waxing costs money and no one wants to keep spending money on a service they’re not happy with. After another bad waxing in June, I actually decided to do my own bikini shave for my July vacation — OMG! I know I normally get the irritation bumps, but these bumps lasted for weeks. I finally realized these weren’t the usual  bumps and went to the doctor. I had a bacterial infection, antibiotics stat! I swore I would never shave my bikini area again! But where to get a good wax. Then I was asked to talk about European Wax Center in South Portland on the air– I decided I would go and have a wax on my own before to agreeing to talk about their services. Also, my best friend Sonia was visiting from Nashville and without knowing about my situation,she told me she goes to European Wax Center in Nashville (they have about 500 locations across the country).

I went in loved the polished reception area and the super friendly greeting by Janey at the front desk. I was met my Chanel, and shown to a bright, very clean room, where we discussed my recent debacle down below-and she proceeded to give me the best, least painful bikini wax ever. And I swear I never got one bump or one red patch! I did buy their ingrown hair serum (it will last me for a year!)— and I used it about twice a day for a week or so, and my wax never had an ingrown hair, bump, or irritation.

I went back this week for my underarms. I’ve never done them, and don’t have a problem shaving them, but I never feel that smooth and wanted to see how smooth I would feel after waxing. Love, love the smoothness!

Their wax is one big difference in previous waxings. It’s their own special hard wax — a deep purple color, they basically spread it on — no muslin overlay needed–and it hardens, then they literally peel it off. This allows the wat to grab deep at the hair folicle, but not grab the skin–hence the no irritation!
