The Maine Coast Fisherman’s Association has launched a fundraiser to support fishermen and businesses that suffered extensive losses from Friday night’s fire on the Portland waterfront.

A boat repair shop was deemed a total loss, while there was heavy damage to Nanqu Kayaks, Maritime Antiques, and the Sea Bags factory store.

Multiple boats tied to the wharf sustained damage from the fire, including one that sank.

The Fisherman’s Association says donations go directly to those impacted by the flames.

Donations can be made here.

Two firefighters received minor injuries that did not require major treatment, and there were no reports of injuries to the public.

The the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting with the investigation of the fire, and a cause and origin have not been determined.

All Portland fire crews were sent to the fire,  as well as the department’s fireboat, and crews from the Westbrook and South Portland fire departments helped out.  Further assistance was provided by crews from Scarborough, South Portland, Falmouth, Cumberland, Westbrook, and Cape Elizabeth.
