Lewiston woman killed after fatal early morning shooting

A person was killed in an early morning shooting in Lewiston, Friday.

The shooting happened on Union Street, at around 1:25am.

Officers found a female suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim, identified as 22-year-old Maliyah Powell of Lewiston.

She was transported to Central Maine Medical Center, where she later died of her injuries.

Police have charged 25-year-old Elise Bergeron of Lewiston, with Powell’s murder.

She is currently being held at the Androscoggin County Jail.
