Police say a “safety concern” prompted schools in the Bath area to close Monday.

In a post on social media, the district announced there would be no school on Monday.

Bath Police Chief Andrew Booth said the department was made aware of a “third-hand report of some statements made by an unknown person.”

On social media, Chief Booth said the department was skeptical about the validity of the statements, but they decided to close schools out of an abundance of caution.

Later on Monday, police said they didn’t believe the threat was credible and that schools would be open Tuesday.
