Central Maine Power says it’s preparing for the possibility of power outages ahead of a weekend nor’easter that’s set to bring rain and wind to Maine.

The utility says the risk of tree damage can increase with leaves still on the trees, and that tree strength could be compromised by ongoing drought conditions throughout the state.

CMP crews can’t send workers up in bucket trucks as long as winds exceed 30 mph.

This week, Accuweather meteorologist Joe Lundberg told WGAN the storm precipitation will be accompanied by winds up to 30 miles per hour and higher, which will hit the Maine coast.

Lundberg says the storm will bring enough rain to help with the current drought conditions in Maine.
