Wildlife officials are issuing a new Do Not Eat advisory for wildlife contaminated with PFAS in eastern Kennebec and western Waldo Counties.

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife said Wednesday the advisory applies to portions of Unity, Knox and Thorndike.

It comes after deer and turkeys in those areas tested positive for elevated levels of PFAS, also known as forever chemicals.

The new advisory is in addition to a previous Do Not Eat advisory for portions of Fairfield, Skowhegan, Unity Township, Albion and Freedom.
