Investigators say a large house fire and explosion in Bridgton Wednesday afternoon was likely caused by a propane leak.

Several surrounding departments battled the fire for hours on Dyvonne Terrace Route 302 near Beaver Pond.

Four people inside the home suffered minor injuries, while one was taken by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland with serious injuries.

A firefighter was also treated at the scene for minor burns but did not need to be hospitalized.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire appears to have started after a propane leak inside the home was ignited.

Investigators say the home was under construction and is considered a total loss.

The investigation is ongoing.
