The City of Portland says flyers distributed throughout the city warning residents about new parking policies are fake.

The flyers claimed that the city was increasing meter prices, introducing higher fines, and designating some parking spots for vehicles from out-of-state.

On Wednesday, the city said it had nothing to do with the flyers, and no adjustments to parking policy are being discussed.

City Spokesperson Jessica Grondin told the Portland Press Herald they don’t know who’s behind the flyers, but they may have been an April Fools’ Day joke.
