Former Portland city councilor Justin Costa has announced he is running for mayor.

The 40-year-old served six years on the Portland school board and six years on the city council.

The Portland Press Herald reports that Costa works in finance for the rental car company Auto Europe.

He fell to April Fournier in a race for an at-large seat on the council in 2020.

He also ran for mayor in 2019, but dropped out of the race due to a series of personal events.

Mayor Kate Snyder announced last year that she would not be seeking a second term in 2023.
