Hundreds of new state laws went into effect Wednesday, 90 days after the legislature adjourned.

The new laws include expanded access to abortions, making the procedure legal at any point during pregnancy as long as its deemed meddically necessary by a doctor.

Another change means gender-affirming care is now covered by MaineCare.

Also, another law impacts every driver in the state, as the “slow down, move over” law has now expanded to protect drivers in any disabled vehicle.

According to the Portland Press Herald, there’s even a change that adds gray and red squirrels to a list of animals that can be used to train hunting dogs.
