Judge orders mental health evaluation for Belfast man accused of killing his wife

A Belfast man charged with murder for the killing of his wife will undergo a competency evaluation.

Police say 34-year-old Samuel Whittemore killed his wife, 32-year-old Margaux Whittemore, at his parents’ home in Readfield on Wednesday.

Whittemore’s mother was also found injured and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Samuel Whittemore, who was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Friday, will continue to be held without bail while he undergoes a mental competency evaluation ordered by a judge.
