Life-Threatening Injuries After Car-Semi Head-On Crash Near Belfast

A 31-year-old man has life-threatening injuries from a head-on crash with a semi in Northport Wednesday morning.

The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office says a 2006 Subaru Outback driven by Cody Arsenault was driving south on Route 1 south of Belfast when he tried to pass a slower-moving car and hit a semi driven by 51-year-old Alejandro Sicaju head-on.

Deputies say Arsenault was ejected from his car and sustained life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a hospital and later flown to another hospital for treatment.

Sicaju received minor injuries and was taken to the Waldo
County General Hospital for medical treatment.

The crash left Route 1, also known as the Atlantic Highway, closed for several hours while Maine State Police conducted an on-scene investigation.

Waldo County deputies say they’re still investigating the crash as well.
