A Maine boy has injuries after driving his snowmobile off a bridge and into an embankment in New Hampshire over the weekend.

New Hampshire Fish and Game says the accident took place at about 1:10 pm Saturday on Perry Stream Road in Pittsburg, and the boy was driving the snowmobile on Primary Trail 140 when he failed to keep control and drove off a bridge and into an embankment.

Wardens say the boy was evaluated and kept warm at the scene initially by a Good Samaritan EMS provider and was later placed on a backboard and carried a short distance to a Pittsburg Fire and Rescue Department rescue snowmobile.

They say the boy was first taken by ambulance to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook but, because of the extent of his injuries he was ultimately flown by helicopter to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for further evaluation of his injuries.

The boy’s condition is not known.

Wardens say scene evaluation and statements from other riding companions, shows inexperience, inattention and speed to be the leading factors.
