Maine Lottery Players Win Almost $25 Million in May

Maine Lottery players claimed almost $25 million in prizes in May.

The Lottery says the top prize was a $500,000 winning ticket sold in Skowhegan at a Circle K store.

In addition, a $250,000 ticket was sold at a Big Apple in Brunswick.

Five players also claimed $100,000 prizes during May. The winning tickets were sold at a Big Apple in Fairfield, Princeton Freshies in Princeton, Oquossoc Grocery in Oquossoc, a Hannaford grocery store in Farmington, and Newport Freshies in Newport.

May prize payments totaled $24,728,500 to Maine Lottery players across all games.

State law requires identifying information for winners of prizes of $100,000 or more to remain confidential.

The Maine Lottery is run by the state of Maine. It is a member of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), whose flagship game is Powerball. It was founded in 1974 after being approved through a voter referendum.
