A Maine man faces charges in a nationwide FBI operation to track down child sex abuse offenders.
Investigators say Joseph A. Maile of Presque Isle used social media to offer minors money to have sex with him.
Maile is charged with enticement of a minor and attempting to sex traffic a child
He was one of more than 200 people arrested in the FBI child sex abuse sting.
Others arrested across the country include a Minnesota state trooper and Army Reservist accused of producing child sexual abuse material while wearing his uniforms, an undocumented immigrant in Virginia accused of transporting a minor across state lines for sex, and a former Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Officer accused of trafficking minor victims.
The Department of Justice says the FBI’s operation resulted in the rescue of 115 children.
“The Department of Justice will never stop fighting to protect victims — especially child victims — and we will not rest until we hunt down, arrest, and prosecute every child predator who preys on the most vulnerable among us,” said Attorney General Pam Bondi.
