Maine School Board Sinks into Chaos Over Teacher on Leave for Kirk Comments

Contentious school board meeting in Lincoln - RSU 67 YouTube feed

High tensions were on display at the school district for Lincoln, Chester and Mattawamkeag, where a teacher is on leave for comments after the killing of Conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Wednesday night’s school board meeting boiled over when Newport resident Tim Bodnar lashed out at the board members, including chairperson Dianne Buck.

“She’s not even looking at me,” Bodnar shouted. “You’re a foul, evil woman! You’re a coward!”

Bodnar went on a rampage while yelling at the school board, calling them numbskulls and claiming teachers had books for social studies containing communist propaganda.

Buck banged the gavel after Bodnar named the teacher who is on leave, to which he said, “You can bang that all you want, lady,”

The meeting in Lincoln was chaotic with numerous recesses after outbursts from Bodnar.

“I demand counseling for the kids who were hurt by Charlie Kirk’s death that (teacher) dissed,” Bodnar said. “He can have free speech; he just can’t have a job on taxpayer money!”

Bodnar received an applause from the crowd in attendance several times, which appeared to agree with his sentiment to immediately fire the teacher on leave.

The meeting was finally adjourned after reaching a boiling point when a board member slapped a phone out of the hands of Bobnar, who had started to record the meeting.
