Man accused of leading police on foot chase in Portland faces drug, fugitive charges

One man was charged with being a fugitive from justice after police said he led them on a foot chase in Portland.

Portland Police say officers spotted 36-year-old Jaulil Williams remove what appeared to be a small baggie of drugs from his pants near Portland Street and Forest Avenue on Thursday night.

Williams allegedly ran off and threw the baggie, before he was caught and found with 17.1 grams of cocaine base, 11.5 grams of crack cocaine, six Oxycodone pills, and $2,990 in cash.

Two officers suffered minor injuries while apprehending Williams, with one being treated at Mercy Hospital and the other back at work.

In addition to being charged as fugitive from justice, Williams was also charged with Unlawful Trafficking in Schedule Drugs, Unlawful Possession of Scheduled Drugs, Failure To Provide Correct Name and Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention.

He’s being held at Cumberland County Jail.
