A 55-year-old Lowell man faces domestic violence charges after holding up in a home with police outside for more than 24 hours.
Troopers say they were called to a residence on West Main Road in Lowell on a report of domestic violence at about 4 p.m. Sunday and were able to assist the victim to safety,
They say her husband, Andrew York, remained inside and refused to come out.
Troopers say they remained on the scene and continued to try to establish contact with York.
A Maine State Police Tactical Team and Crisis Negotiation Team finally arrived on the scene at 2:30 pm Monday.
Troopers say negotiators were able to get York to surrender without incident by 4:30 pm Monday.
York was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
At 7 pm Monday, troopers said he would be taken to Penobscot County Jail upon being released from the hospital and will be charged with domestic violence-related offenses.
No injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
