One person is dead, and another has injuries after an ATV crash in Madison just after midnight Sunday.

Somerset County deputies say the driver, 37-year-old Tyler Atkinson of Madison, did not stop at an intersection on East Madison Road and drove into a ditch, where the ATV rolled over and hit a tree.

They sayd Atkinson suffered severe head injuries and died at the scene, while his passenger, 33-year-old Corey Gordea, who is believed to be Atkinson’s brother, was taken to a Skowhegan hospital with leg injuries. His condition is unknown.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash. Deputies say neither Atkinson nor Gordea was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
