Mills Briefly Posts/Deletes Video Announcing Senate Run

Governor Janet Mills’ campaign posted and then deleted a video of her announcing her run for Senate.

The Bangor Daily News reports that a 20-second video appeared briefly on Friday, featuring her saying Susan Collins has sold out Maine before asking viewers for a $5 donation.

Several news sources have reported Mills will announce her candidacy to unseat Republican Senator Collins on Tuesday.

Axios first reported Mills would likely announce her Senate run in the upcoming week.

Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer has led an effort to recruit Mills to enter the race, after a successful two terms as the Democratic governor of Maine.

Mills is 77-years-old while the 72-year-old Collins has said she’ll run for a sixth term.

The Democratic field already several candidates, including military veteran and oysterman Graham Platner, who has raised $3 million since announcing his Senate run.
