More Shark Sightings Reported in Scarborough

Scarborough Police Department

More shark activity is being spotted at Pine Point Beach in Scarborough, a day after there were two shark sightings in the same area.

The Scarborough Public Safety Team says drone footage from late Wednesday afternoon showed a few white sharks in the waters between the Pine Point Jetty and the extensive sandbar that runs parallel to the Scarborough River channel.

They say the observations are consistent with the increased shark activity reported over the past several days.

The Scarborough Police Marine Resource Officer is advising swimmers, surfers, paddleboarders, kayakers, and anyone recreating in the area to remain vigilant and avoid entering the water if sharks are observed or if a public safety officials is issued.

Police say the sightings are being shared for the purpose of public awareness.

The Scarborough Public Safety Team says it’ll continue to monitor the area in coordination with local, state, and federal partners.
