A 20-year-old motorcyclist has serious injuries from a crash in Auburn Monday.

Police say the motorcycle (2024 Honda CBR600) left a parking lot at 405 Center Street and hit an SUV (2023 Honda CRV) driven by 75-year-old Stephen Telow of Lewiston on the side of the vehicle.

They say the motorcyclist, Christian Mathieu of Auburn, was wearing a helmet, but did not have an endorsement to operate a motorcycle. He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers say the investigation is ongoing, and charges are being considered after Telow said he did not see the motorcycle enter the travel lane.

Telow was not seriously injured in the crash.
