A 23-year-old New Hampshire woman is dead after crashing a snowmobile on Jackman Friday.

The Maine Warden Service says Michelle Carolina Cantos lost control of the Polaris snowmobile she was operating and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cantos was operating fourth in a group of five family and friends riding north.

Officers say inexperience appears to be a factor leading to the crash.

The crash took place on on ITS 89 in Jackman.
