A New York man pleaded guilty on Wednesday to committing mortgage fraud to purchase a home in Somerset County and using it as an illegal marijuana growing operation.

According to the Portland Press Herald, Ken Yiu purchased the home in St. Albans in 2020 and indicated on his mortgage application that it was his primary residence.

Prosecutors say Yiu admitted to selling marijuana grown on the property to buyers in Massachusetts.

He pleaded guilty in federal court on Wednesday and faces up to 30 years behind bars and fines of more than $1 million.
