Norridgewock Man Faces Murder Charges After Body Found

A 38-year-old Norridgewock man faces murder charges after Somerset County Sheriff’s deputies found one man dead and another man with serious head injuries at a home late Friday night.

Maine State Police say they were alerted Kendall Purnell was driving the dead man’s vehicle. Subsequently, Waterville Police spotted and detained Purnell at Irving’s Gas Station on Kennedy Memorial Drive in Waterville at about 1 a.m. Saturday.

Purnell was later arrested for Murder and taken to the Somerset County Jail.

The dead man was taken to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy will be conducted. 

The injured man was taken to Reddington Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan and later flown by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor where he is currently listed in critical condition. 

The names of the victims are not being released at this time. Maine State Police say additional information will be released as the investigation progresses..
