An Otisfield man is accused of assaulting two victims before stealing a car and crashing it Tuesday night.

Oxford County deputies say the 45-year-old man assaulted a woman with a weapon and strangled her at a home.

Police say he also used the weapon to assault a Good Samaritan who tried to help when the woman ran outside to flag down passing drivers.

The person was able to get back in his car and escape before being taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect then stole the woman’s car and crashed it nearby, suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The woman suffered minor injuries.

The man, whose name has not been released, faces several charges including domestic violence and OUI.
