Police Arrest Suspect After Guns Shown, Threat Made at Portland Mosque

Portland Police are investigating after a report of people wielding guns and making threatening remarks in front of a mosque Tuesday night at about 9:10.

Officers say witnesses reported three people in a black BMW pulled in front of the Cumberland Islamic Center on Forest Avenue, with two of the occupants displaying handguns and directing threats at another person.

Police says they found the vehicle at the Maine Muslim Community Center on Anderson Street.

They say two underage suspects were taken into custody and interviewed by Detectives and ultimately released to their parents with charges pending.

A 19-year-old was also taken into custody with charges pending.

No one was injured and no guns have been recovered at this point in the investigation.

Portland Police are encouraging anyone with a security camera that may have captured footage of the incident to please contact them.

Additionally, anyone who may have seen or heard anything related to these incidents is asked to call the PD’s non-emergency line at 207-874-8575.
