Sebago Woman Scammed by Contractor Gets Surprise Help from Local Businesses

Jane MacDonald of Sebago thought she was getting a freshly paved driveway. Instead, she lost nearly $5,000 to a contractor who never completed the job.

After living in her home for nearly 50 years, MacDonald wanted her driveway paved to match a new garage. She posted on Facebook asking for recommendations and hired a contractor who seemed professional. But after two cancellations and claims of broken equipment, the contractor stopped responding.

MacDonald shared her experience online to warn others. That’s when Williams Brothers Construction in Saco reached out and offered to pave the driveway for free. Another company, P & K Gravel, donated all the materials.

“I had lost my trust in people for a little bit, but this brought faith back in me,” MacDonald said.

She has filed a police report and contacted the Maine Attorney General’s Office.
