A 20-year-old Topsham man, who was out on bail for an arson charge, is back in jail on the same charge,

The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office says it was called in by Maine State Police to investigate an explosion in the back of a pickup truck Sunday in the 1400 block of Swan Lake Avenue in Swanville.

State Police identified Patrick Kane as a person of interest. Gardiner Police then tracked down Kane and detained him for questioning by Fire Marshal’s Office Investigators.
Fire investigators subsequently interviewed Kane numerous times. He was arrested and charged with arson and violating conditions of release.

Police say Kane was out on bail at the time of his most recent arrest for an arson charge that happened in early 2024 that the Fire Marshall’s Office investigated.

Kane was taken to the Waldo County Jail, where he was denied bail. He will be held pending a court appearance on the new charges. No other information is available at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
