Trump administration terminates U.S. Attorney for Maine

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the district of Maine says the state’s top federal prosecutor has been fired by the Trump administration.

On Monday, the attorney’s office announced that Darcie McElwee will no longer serve as U.S. Attorney for Maine, and will be replaced by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig M. Wolff.

Wolff worked as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in 2002 in the district of Maryland.

McElwee was nominated for the role by former President Joe Biden in 2021. She had served as a federal prosecutor for nearly 20 years prior to that.
