Two Arrested in Waterville After 6 Month Drug Trafficking Investigation

Cocaine HDL and Heroin from Waterville drug bust - Maine Drug Enforcement Agency

Two people face felony charges after a six month investigation involving out-of-state people traveling to the Swanville area to distribute drugs.

Members of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency say they received credible information that an out-of-state trafficker was going to be arriving in Waterville on a Greyhound bus with a substantial amount of narcotics Monday.

The Agents also say they had credible information that 38-year-old Candy Duprey of Unity was going to be picking up a suspected trafficker, 45-year-old Claudio Villae of Boston, and taking him to the Mid Coast area.

In addition, they say it was learned that Duprey had an active warrant of arrest over a drug trafficking investigation.

Drug Enforcement agents say they coordinated with Maine State Police and Waterville Police to pull over Duprey after she picked up Villae.

They say the Duprey’s vehicle was stopped, and a search inside turned up 137.2 grams of Cocaine HCL, and 66.6 grams of Heroin.

Villae and Duprey were arrested and charged with Aggravated Trafficking Schedule “W” Drugs, a high level felony.

Both are currently at the Kennebec County Jail awaiting court appearances.

Bail for Villae was set at $100,000 cash, while Duprey was not allowed bail as she is currently out on bail for charges of theft and violating bail conditions.

The investigation continues and additional arrests are expected.
