Two Bangor men charged in credit union robbery

BANGOR, Maine (WGAN) Bangor police have made two arrests in connection with a robbery at a local credit union.

The Bangor Police Department said the robbery was reported around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at 417 State Street.

They identified one suspect as 43-year-old Earl Torrence of Bangor, who they said fled in a vehicle being driven by 28-year-old Corey Violette, also of Bangor. Both were gone by the time police arrived at the scene.

Police said the two made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured.

Officers located their vehicle around noon on Essex Street, which is nearby. Both men were taken into custody without incident.

Police said Violette had a loaded handgun when he was taken into custody.

The two are being held at Penobscot County Jail on $10,000 bail.

The investigation is ongoing.
