Two man face numerous charges after a high-speed chase in Casco was abandoned by deputies before the suspect car crashed and the men were caught on foot.

Cumberland County deputies used a K9 to track down 19-year-old Abdiaziz Ibrahim of Portland and 21-year-old Rodrigue Mucyo of Westbrook in a wooded area off of Graffam Road.

Deputies say the car was stolen from South Portland while a gun was stolen from Saco. Both men face numerous charges while Ibrahim is also suspected of OUI.

Deputies say they were conducting traffic enforcement operations on Roosevelt Trail near the intersection of Club Sebago Way in the Town of Casco at about 7:40 pm when they spotted blue Mazda 3 being operated in a manner consistent with a driver under the influence.

They say they attempted to stop on the car, but it continued travelling at roughly 55mph in a 45mph speed zone.

Deputies say they started a chase when the car turned onto Brown Avenue in Casco, and rapidly accelerated, reaching more than 90mph in the posted 45mph speed zone on Quaker Ridge Road.

They say they abandoned the chase at that point, but then found the car crashed at the intersection of Graffam Road, with both occupants having fled on foot into the woods.

K9 teams from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene to assist in the search for the suspects.

A K9 track was conducted which led to the apprehension of Ibrahim and Mucyo.

Both suspects were taken to the Maine Medical Center for a precautionary clearance, and then to the Cumberland County Jail.

Abdiaziz Ibrahim was charged with:

1) Refusing to submit to arrest or detention, Failure to Stop
2) Eluding
3) Driving to endanger
4) Reckless conduct
5) Criminal Speeding
6) Operating Without a License
7) Receiving Stolen Property
8) Probation Violation
9) OUI Refusal

Rodrigue Mucyo was charged with:

1) Receiving Stolen Property
2) Probation Violation
3) Two active Warrants of Arrest.

Deputies say Quaker Ridge Rd. remained passable by local traffic while they worked the scene.
