Westbrook Woman Still in Critical Condition from Sabattus Crash

A 25-year-old Westbrook woman remained in critical condition Monday, three days after a head-on crash on Route 132 in Sabattus.

The Press Herald reports Kylie Langella was taken from Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston to Maine Medical Center in Portland on Monday for further procedures after undergoing surgery.

A GoFundMe page for Langella said she has at least two collapsed lungs, two broken legs, a lacerated liver and had her spleen removed.

She’s expected to be in the hospital for at least a month.

Police say the head-on crash took place Friday night when a Chevrolet Trax driven by Langella was hit by a GMC Acadia driven by 23-year-old Cole Whitten of Sabattus, who crossed the centerline.

Whitten and a passenger in his vehicle were also taken to a hospital with injuries.

Police say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, but driver distraction is being considered as a contributing factor.

The incident remains under active investigation by the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.
The Lewiston Police Department’s accident reconstruction team, Sabattus Fire and Rescue, Lisbon Rescue, and United Ambulance also responded to the scene.
