Woman Stable After Rescue from Androscoggin River in Auburn

A woman is recovering after she was pulled from the Androscoggin River in Auburn Monday afternoon.

Emergency crews say to were called to a body floating in the water between Main and Mill Streets just before 2:30 pm.

The first officer on scene located her, pulled her to shore and discovered she was alive, and immediately began life-saving measures.

They included CPR and the opioid overdose reversing medication Narcan before being taken to Central Maine Medical Center, where she is was listed in stable condition.

The woman was identified as a 37-year-old transient person.

Auburn Police say the incident remains under investigation. There’s been no explanation for how the woman ended up in the water.
