Congratulations to Bethany Brown, one of our 20 Outstanding Women of 2026!
Listen to Bethany’s full interview with Blake and Kelly below:
Bethany is the founder of the Saco River Wildlife Center, where sick, injured, and orphaned animals are given a second chance at survival. Through her dedication, she has brought together hundreds of volunteers who help care for wildlife and educate communities across Maine, one rescue at a time.
Her impact extends far beyond animal care. Bethany supports local families by collecting Christmas gifts for those in need and inspires young people through STEM events, preschool visits with her snake, and hands-on opportunities for kids, like welcoming them to help with laundry while learning about wildlife rehabilitation. She also mentors interns who travel from out of state to build veterinary and wildlife care skills.
Bethany’s work requires long days and even longer nights, especially during baby season, which now stretches from late March into September with around-the-clock care. Volunteers have stepped up, becoming certified to help with babies and specialized species.
