For 18 years, Kris has been the driving force behind an incredible day of service for the community. She is the organizer of MLK Day of Service in Maine, and spends countless hours throughout the year planning and coordinating this event, which truly reflects the spirit and dream of Martin Luther King Jr.
Because of Kris’s dedication, the day provides vital support and care for many people in need. Participants are welcomed with a free hot breakfast and lunch, along with coffee, muffins, and warm cinnamon rolls throughout the morning. They can also receive haircuts, blood pressure checks, and vision screenings.
In addition, families have access to essential items such as new underwear and socks, gently used winter coats, clothing for all ages, boots, shoes, toiletries, diapers, and even games, toys, and puzzles for children.
Kris’s compassion, leadership, and tireless work have made this event a cherished tradition that continues to uplift and support the community year after year.
