I arrived in Portland on January 21, 2005 for a four week stint filling in on the morning show. More than eleven years later,  I am still here. I am grateful every day for the opportunity to live in such a great city! From paddle boarding at Kettle Cove in the summer, to snowshoeing in the winter, if you love the outdoors, this is the place to be!

Before Portland, I spent almost 8 years in Nashville, TN. I worked for a music trade magazine as the Nashville Bureau Chief and Country Editor. I was able to meet nearly every Country music artist. The songwriting community in Nashville is amazing!

I grew up and spent my first 30-something years in Santa Monica, Calif. I have to say Santa Monica is a fantastic city, even though now it’s almost “too cool”. I grew up swimming in the Pacific Ocean, so to me, venturing into the Atlantic here, is still tough!!

My position on the Coast Morning Show allows me the ability to be involved with causes that matter to me. As a breast cancer survivor, I am passionate about making sure women get their regular mammograms, and we continue on a path towards a cure. Shelter Animals and creating awareness for adopting shelter dogs and cats is another cause I care about deeply. I can be quite vocal about the many reasons not to purchase a puppy, kitten,  dog, or cat.

My favorite movies tend to be small artsy or foreign films….”Life Is Beautiful,” “Notes on A Scandal,” “Cinema Paradiso”. I am not into most of the blockbusters…Star Wars, Star Trek, Pirates of the Caribbean, Batman, Superman. I don’t have a lot of extra time, so I prefer to see the movies I think will appeal to me more.

Reading is a big hobby. I’ve read since I was a teen and I think it has directly impacted my ability to be a decent writer. I love mysteries, thrillers, historical- fiction, and pretty much anything that is written from the mind of a dog! “The Art of Racing in The Rain” is one of my top three books of all time! I am one of the rare people in radio who doesn’t watch much TV. I do like to rent a series and just watch the episodes back-to-back.

Tracee Ellis Ross is making her Broadway debut and completing a bucket-list item

Tracee Ellis Ross is starting to notice the small things that bring her happiness: The satisfying click of a curling iron, say, or the taste of olives. It's sort of her job right now. The actor and producer is making her Broadway debut starting Tuesday in "Every Brilliant Thing," one of the more uplifting and joyful plays this summer, even if it delves into the subject of depression.
